A collection of interactive exhibits where scientists from the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ÚPT) and the Institute of Physics and Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ÚFM) will demonstrate—and visitors can try for themselves—experiments illustrating quantum phenomena in technologies that have become part of our daily lives. Quantum phenomena occur at the atomic level, which is why we cannot observe them directly with the naked eye. They manifest during the interaction of elementary particles with light. It was precisely these phenomena that scientists were unable to explain using classical physics as late as the 19th century, and thus the foundations of quantum physics were laid.
